The Competition Commission of India (CCI) has granted approval for Tata Electronics Private Limited to acquire 100% of Wistron Infocomm Manufacturing (India) Private Limited. This acquisition involves Tata Electronics Private Limited, a greenfield venture of Tata Sons Private Limited, purchasing the entire equity share capital of Wistron Infocomm Manufacturing (India) Private Limited from SMS Infocomm (Singapore) Private Limited and Wistron Hong Kong Limited.

Wistron Infocomm Manufacturing (India) Private Limited, the target of this acquisition, is an electrical and electronics manufacturing company specializing in electronic manufacturing services, particularly contract manufacturing for smartphones in India. It operates from its plant in Karnataka and was established in 2017 as part of the Wistron group.

This move represents Tata Electronics Private Limited's entry into the smartphone component manufacturing sector, specifically focusing on smartphone enclosures, which are integral components for assembling smartphones. CCI's approval paves the way for this strategic acquisition to proceed.
