PM Modi Inaugurates Diamond Jubilee Celebration of Supreme Court, Emphasizes Legal Modernization and Accessible Justice

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Diamond Jubilee celebration of the Supreme Court of India at its auditorium in Delhi. During the event, he launched several citizen-centric technology initiatives, including Digital Supreme Court Reports (Digi SCR), Digital Courts 2.0, and a new Supreme Court website.

PM Modi commended the Supreme Court's role in upholding the principles of freedom, equality, and justice as envisioned by the makers of the Indian constitution. He emphasized the court's significance in safeguarding individual rights and freedom of speech, leading to transformative judgments that have influenced the nation's socio-political landscape.

The Prime Minister outlined goals for the next 25 years, highlighting the importance of today's economic policies in shaping India's future. He stressed the need for accessible justice and praised the Supreme Court for its efforts in this regard.

PM Modi also addressed the convergence of Indian values and modernity in the legal framework, emphasizing the importance of updating laws to align with contemporary practices. He commended the government's efforts to abolish outdated colonial laws and introduce new legislation.

In closing, Prime Minister Modi acknowledged the Supreme Court's pivotal role in shaping India's future and congratulated the institution on its 75th anniversary. Chief Justice of India, Dr. D Y Chandrachud, and other dignitaries were present at the event.
