Thane (Amaravati Today): On January 24th, the Indian Navy celebrated the launch of the 'Ammunition Cum Torpedo Cum Missile Barge, LSAM 19 (Yard 129),' marking the completion of the 5th barge in the 11-part Ammunition Cum Torpedo Cum Missile (ACTCM) Barge Project. The vessels were constructed by the MSME Shipyard, M/s Suryadipta Projects Pvt Ltd, in Thane. Commodore V Pravin presided over the launching ceremony.

The contract for the construction of these 11 ACTCM Barges was signed between the Ministry of Defence and M/s Suryadipta Projects Pvt Ltd in Thane on March 5, 2021. These Barges are crucial for enhancing the operational capabilities of the Indian Navy as they facilitate the transportation, embarkation, and disembarkation of articles and ammunition for IN Ships, both at jetties and outer harbors.

These indigenously designed and built Barges adhere to the Naval Rules and Regulations of the Indian Register of Shipping and underwent model testing at the Naval Science and Technological Laboratory in Visakhapatnam. Their construction aligns with the 'Make in India' initiative of the Government of India, showcasing a commitment to indigenous manufacturing.
