Houthi Missile Attack in Red Sea Claims Lives and Disrupts Shipping
On March 6, around 11:30 a.m. Sanaa time, a missile launched by Iranian-backed Houthi terrorists in Yemen hit the Barbados-flagged, Liberian-owned bulk carrier M/V True Confidence in the Gulf of Aden, resulting in three fatalities and at least four injuries, with three crew members critically wounded. The attack caused significant damage to the ship, prompting the multinational crew to abandon it. Coalition warships are currently assessing the aftermath.
This incident marks the fifth anti-ship ballistic missile (ASBM) attack by Houthis in just two days, including hits on M/V MSC Sky II and M/V True Confidence, with one missile intercepted by USS Carney (DDG 64). These attacks have not only claimed the lives of international seafarers but also disrupted global trade, highlighting the escalating threat posed by Houthi forces in the region.
