Guyanese Prime Minister Meets Indian President to Strengthen Bilateral Ties

Prime Minister Mark Phillips of the Cooperative Republic of Guyana met with President Droupadi Murmu of India at Rashtrapati Bhavan. President Murmu welcomed Prime Minister Phillips, highlighting the historical, cultural, and linguistic ties between India and Guyana through their shared colonial past and Indian diaspora.

They discussed the need to diversify bilateral trade and enhance cooperation in Ayurveda, biofuels, and agriculture, particularly in millets, to address climate change and food insecurity challenges. President Murmu commended Guyana's presidency of CARICOM and the United Nations Security Council, emphasizing the countries' advocacy for reformed multilateralism.

She also lauded Guyana's initiatives in climate change, green energy, and sustainable development.
