Australian Minister Pat Conroy Enhances Partnerships with Timor-Leste and Nauru on Official Visit

Australia's Minister for International Development and the Pacific, Pat Conroy, is embarking on a significant visit to Timor-Leste and Nauru this week, aimed at strengthening the enduring partnerships between these nations. Timor-Leste and Australia share a robust alliance rooted in historical and cultural connections, with Australia being Timor-Leste's primary supporter in development and security matters. Conroy will engage in discussions with Timor-Leste's Prime Minister Xanana Gusmão and other high-ranking government officials during his visit to Dili.

Similarly, Australia maintains a strong and lasting partnership with Nauru, driven by shared history and interpersonal ties. As Nauru's principal development partner, Australia is investing in sustainable infrastructure, economic growth, job creation, skills development, and connectivity to secure prosperity for current and future generations. Additionally, the two nations collaborate extensively in defense and law enforcement to address Nauru's security concerns.

Conroy's itinerary includes participation in Nauru's Independence Day festivities and meetings with President David Adeang, Foreign Minister Lionel Aingimea, and Cabinet ministers. These visits underscore Australia's commitment to nurturing its vital relationships and fostering a peaceful, stable, and prosperous region.
